Stephen England, President

Steve, an Upper Mills resident, joined our board in 2014, became co-president in 2015 and president in 2016. He also chairs the Marketing Committee. A technology consultant by profession, he has founded three technology firms and has also served as an adjunct instructor at two local colleges. Steve has served as President of the Board of the Loud Noise Music School, where he has been a long-time trustee as well as a student. Other board affiliations have included the State History Museum, and a home schooling non-profit. He has an Masters degree from Carnegie Mellon. Steve was reelected president at the 2018 Annual Meeting.

Arthur France, Vice President

Arthur joined our Board of Directors in 2012 and has provided a variety of direct services to our members, including transporting them to medical appointments, doing simple handyman jobs, and gardening. He is also a member of the Health and Wellness Committee. Arthur retired in March 2011 from a surgical practice. His medical degree is from the University of Michigan Medical School. He and his wife have lived in here for more than 40 years and raised three children who all graduated from our local schools. Arthur was elected vice president at the 2018 Annual Meeting.

Herb Norway, Secretary

Herb first became involved with our Village as a direct service volunteer in 2014 and joined the Board of Directors in 2016. After a long career in internal medicine, with training in geriatrics, he retired in 2014. His medical degree is from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Herb enjoys art and gardening and volunteering for the local Food Pantry. In retirement, he is an amateur sculptor and metalworker. Herb and his wife have lived here for over 37 years and have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Herb was reelected secretary at the 2018 Annual Meeting.

Paula Canada, Treasurer

Paula brings over twenty-five years of financial and business planning experiences in a variety of industries. She is the Director of Accounting and Analysis at Planning Research Company. Paula joined our Board in 2015 after volunteering with our treasurer and staff to review our financial operations and was elected treasurer in 2016. Paula holds a BS degree in Accounting from Notre Dame University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of South Carolina. She is an avid bicyclist. Paula was elected treasurer at the 2018 Annual Meeting.

John Holland

John joined the NAH Board in 2018 He is a lawyer representing clients primarily in retirement, wills, and estates, topics on which he frequently writes and lectures. He is also a member of the Member Recruitment and Retention Committee. John is a founding member of the Governor’s Advisory Board on the Elderly and Elderly Law. He is also a founding member of the Board of the non-profit Seniors Helping Seniors. His BA and JD are from New York University and its Law School.

Deborah Russia

Deborah was one of the our founding members and continued to be an active volunteer before rejoining the board in 2019. A city resident for more than three decades, she has worked professionally during that time as a educator and tutor, while also playing key volunteer roles in a number of community and advocacy organizations in the area. Born and educated in Japan, Deborah previously lived in China and the UK, working as a educator and on the staff of local theatre companies. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Tokyo MA in education from the University of Manchester. In high school in Japan, she had a semester abroad in a small town in Wyoming.
