Why Volunteer

Volunteerism is a centerpiece of the Village model, drawing upon the capacity of people in our communities to support each other and the benefits to both the volunteer and the member.

Our Village has a “volunteer-first” policy, finding a qualified volunteer to fulfill a request before referring members to a commercial vendor.

Our volunteers include members, their children, college students, empty nesters, retirees, and many others from the community.

Our volunteers come in all ages and all stages of life from school children to seniors, empty nesters, recent retirees to full- time employees. There are volunteer opportunities for anyone who wants to make good use of their skills, do something that speaks to their interests, and become part of a wonderful community of neighbors helping neighbors committed to improving the quality of life of seniors in our community.

Some of the benefits volunteers experience include:

  • Staying active – physically, mentally and socially
  • Connecting with others, and feeling part of community
  • Putting talents, skills and capacities to good use
  • Paying it forward – knowing that someday each of us will also need support

All our volunteers are fully vetted and attend our training program.  We have get togethers for our volunteers several times a year.
